Why do we stop living?

Why do we stop living?

The first time i seen this quote by Ben Franklin "Most people die by the age of 25 but are not buried until they are 75", i thought yes, this is what happens to so many people. Maybe you have just finished years of college and now got yourself a job. maybe you are newly married and planning a family.

Whatever your situation at the age of 25 we seem to stay in this place for years. I know for me when you get comfortable in a job, i would prefer to stay there, yes complaining but it was paying the bills, right? We seem to let ourselves go around and around without thinking about living life. Sure we have a job that pays bills but is this it??? Really??

Absolutely not, some day you need to wake up and understand, IT IS NEVER TOO LATE? Why did i write this in bold, because sometimes you need to hear it out loud. What do i mean?

It is never too late to go back to study, it is never too late to love again, it is never too late to travel, it is never too late to exercise, it is never too late to say your sorry, it is just never too late. It is your life and you need to understand you are in the driver seat. We can not blame anyone else for how we are living.

Sometimes we need to stand back, take note and take action. Yes.

I was actually married at 25 and had our first baby at 27. We have 4 children and i was a stay at home mother for 8 years. So getting back out to work was hard but had to be done. Also i had never went from school to college so through the years i had returned to further education. Yes we can go to college at any age and whats better, now college is online. So you do not even have to leave your house. I honestly have no clue how you can decide a career at 17 years old. But we need to understand we can change this career at any time. We only get one shot at this life crack and you better make the most of it.

Surveys tell us that 50% of people are unhappy in their jobs. Ok you do not have to love it but you can not be unhappy. It's such a chunk of your life, you can not live it been unhappy. For a lot of people, Mammy and Daddy paid for college, you had to pick something, you are now working in this sector and how would you change your career?

In mindfulness we learn about "The sunken cost trap", it is where we have spent money on college or a business and we hold on because we fear we are wasting money when in fact by holding on we are wasting our life.

In life we also have beliefs put upon us. Yes we do, did your Granny ever tell you to make something of yourself? Or were you told you needed to be a solicitor, lawyer, doctor, nurse, farmer, politician, banker like your parent? But guess what? Now your living your own life and you need to live your own life. Sounds simple right?

In mindfulness we learn about living for today, we need to make sure we are living a happy fulfilled life. If there is something you need to change, start today, it is never too late and you are never too old.

Wishing you the very best in life x
